Vámi Ármin was born in 2008. He graduated from Székesfehérvári Vasvári Pál Secondary School in 2026 and is currently a first-year Chemistry student at the Faculty of Science of the Eötvös Loránd University.

He has been interested in nature and the natural sciences since childhood. Paleontology was the first field to capture his attention, to such an extent that, at the age of eleven, he completed a six-week online paleontology course in English offered by the University of Alberta in Canada. In 2021, his research project entitled “Following in the Footsteps of Dinosaurs, or Are Dinosaurs Still Alive Today?” won first place nationally at the Young Researchers’ Scientific Conference.

His openness and curiosity are reflected in his regular participation in science lectures, conferences, camps, and visits to research institutes. From the second grade onwards, he attended the Researchers’ Night programmes of the Institutes of Chemistry and Physics at Eötvös Loránd University every year, and it was through these experiences that he developed a passion for chemistry.

In 2022, he was admitted to the ELTE Talentum Programme and became involved in research at the ELTE Astrochemistry Laboratory. His work focused on the infrared spectroscopic investigation of interstellar sulfur compounds and solid-state carbonic acid. He has presented his research findings at both national and international conferences in the form of oral presentations, posters, and essays.

His commitment to chemistry is demonstrated by numerous outstanding competition results. In the Chemistry in English competition organised by the Hungarian Secondary School Chemistry Journal, he placed third in 2023 and won first place nationally in 2024, 2025, and 2026. In the Search for Chemistry competition, he finished second in 2024 and first in 2025. At the Ferenc Müller Chemistry Memorial Competition, he and his teammate were named “Overall Winners” in 2024, and in 2025 they won first place in the theoretical category. He placed third nationally at the Mária Szebenyi Chemistry Memorial Competition in 2025 and once again qualified for the national final in 2026.

In 2024, he received a special award for his presentation at the international final of the International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS). In 2026, he once again represented Hungary at the ICYS final in New Delhi, where he won a silver medal. At the József Hlavay National Student Conference on Environmental Science and Engineering, he placed third in 2024 and first in both 2025 and 2026. He also advanced to the second round of the 34th National Scientific and Innovation Olympiad and received a certificate of commendation.

In 2023, he joined the KutDiák Movement, regularly participating in its scientific poster competitions and TUDOK conferences. In 2025, he won first place in the Scientific Essay Competition of the Hungarian Research Student Association and received a special award in the Scientific Poster Competition. Based on his achievements, he was invited to the National Student Conference in Káptalanfüred, where he was elected Deputy Head of the Life and Environmental Sciences Department. In 2026, he became Head of the organisation’s Applied Sciences and Technology Department.

He has also achieved outstanding results in several national English-language competitions. In 2023, he obtained a C1-level English language certificate.

In his free time, he enjoys reading science-fiction books in English, playing the guitar, table tennis, hiking, and travelling. He studied classical guitar and later jazz guitar at the Hermann László Music School in Székesfehérvár. For him, music is not only a hobby and a means of creative self-expression, but also one of the most important ways to relax and recharge.

To me, the KutDiák Movement is proof that curiosity can create a community. It has not only given me the opportunity to present my research but has also allowed me to meet people who have inspired and supported me throughout my journey. As a member of the leadership team, I would like to help ensure that more young people have the courage to ask their own questions, become involved in research, and find a community in which they can grow both professionally and personally—in other words, a place where they truly belong.
